Peter Schmideg is a well respected and highly skilled facilitator and coach with over 20 years experience in learning and development. He is committed to providing clients with services that inspire and an opportunity to learn..
Peter has a BA, and a Graduate Diploma in Business from Swinburne’s Graduate School of Management. He has a Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, and is accredited through Genos Australia to administer their Emotional Intelligence profiling tool. Peter is the author of two books, and has been a guest lecturer at Stanford University’s Centre for Teaching & Learning (USA). After graduating from university Peter worked for an advertising agency that saw the beginning of his career as a copywriter, writing radio and television commercials as well as press ads and recording radio commercials. He then moved to London for three years where he worked as a freelancer for a number of advertising agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, and also worked in the film industry designing movie posters and cutting trailers for new release films. Returning to Australia in 1985 saw Peter transition out of advertising into training and consulting where he continued his studies gaining his Grad Dip in Business with a focus on leadership and organisation dynamics. Peter has built a reputation for creating and delivering dynamic programs that are informative, practical and focused on shifting ideas and assumptions of participants. He quickly builds trust and rapport and is highly responsive to group needs. Peter rarely uses PowerPoint, preferring to rely instead on workbooks, conversation, interaction and groupwork. He offers a strong focus on experiential learning that can easily be applied back in the ‘real world.’ The focus of his work is on improving the performance of individuals, teams and organisations. His programs broadly cover diverse areas such as Sales and Service, Emotional Intelligence, Leading and Managing, and Stress and Conflict Management. The common denominator in all these programs is performance improvement. Peter works across a diverse range of business sectors from retail to manufacturing to law, healthcare, IT, academia, banking and finance to automotive and building and construction. Some recent projects include:
Peter is comfortable working at all levels of a hierarchy; from front line staff to executive management teams. He also runs successful programs for ‘blue collar’ workers for example, construction workers in the John Holland Group (builders of Eastlink) and recently, gold miners at Northgate Mining in Fosterville (Bendigo). He is quick to adapt program content and delivery style to suit his audience; he understands that it’s never a case of ‘one size fits all’. Peter will always consider the needs of the organisation and ensures that clients receive value for money every time. Participant post-training evaluations are always very positive, and the ultimate proof of his effectiveness is in the long-standing relationships he has created with the numerous clients who regularly rebook him because his training has that rare quality- impact.
Programs Peter regularly delivers include:
