1.
Ask questions. Taking a few moments to repeat back directions,
what someone expects of you, etc., can save hours. (The old "the
hurrieder I go, the behinder I get," idea).
2.
Say "No!." Saying "no" to
extra projects, social activities, and invitations you know you
don’t have the time or energy for takes practice, self-respect,
and a belief that everyone, everyday, needs quiet time to relax
and be alone.
3. Make
friends with nonworriers. Nothing can get you into the habit or
worrying faster than associating with chronic worrywarts.

Dear Friends
Life
keeps us so involved in the rut that we forget to actually enjoy our
life. We spend our entire life so wrapped up in pursuing certain
financial goals that we forget that we were also born to pursue true
happiness. Even when we come face to face with happiness we do not
recognize it and disregard, discount or ignore it. Everyday we see
somber faces around us and even they do not realize why they are so
serious all the time.
In
the rush through our hectic days, many of us are so busy being "adults"
by addressing our responsibilities and obligations that we forget there
is still a part of us that is essential to our well-being and
happiness....the child within us. The child deserves to be, and should
be, acknowledged in order to maintain a healthy balance in our
day-to-day doings and also to remind ourselves of the fun and joy that
exists in each one of us. Carl Jung referred to this inner child as
“Divine Child”
In the corporate world, the social pressures coerce us to act mature and
repress that inner child. We forget the sheer joy of excitement at the
smallest things. We meet these free spirits,
and
we either envy their utter desertion of life or scorn their infantile
behavior. We cannot deny its existence; This child is always just below
the surface, causing us to be anxious, worried, and fearful of
mistreatment.
To re-capture this childhood, we need to be in presence of children and
follow their innocent footsteps as they gaze in amazement at the world
around them, taking time to enjoy a flying moth or stop to smell a
wildflower, and just laugh at no apparent conditions. To nurture this
youth, we need to revisit our childhood goals, perhaps endeavour to
achieve them, rummage the attic for old pictures or school papers, play
monopoly or hide and seek with the children, lie on the green grass and
watch cloud formations. For an adult all these actions seem so bizarre
and unthinkable. The trick is to put the logical mind to sleep for a
while and go with the flow. These snatches of ‘just being’ have a
relaxing impact in our practical life.
Why
do we stop ourselves from having fun and playing for play’s sake, when
it can actually help us prevent burnout and manage stress in our lives.
By getting in touch with our inner child we can let go of our
seriousness, overcome our fears, and accept flexibility and change in
our life. As we controlled, repressed and hid the child within, to
survive in the world, we subconsciously hold on to it. By identifying
with it, we can maintain a balance of maturity and childishness as and
when required to live a healthy happy life. By coming face to face with
the divine child we can defy age, feel uninhibited, take pleasure in the
little miracle of life and lead a more serene life.

Marketing
Environmentally Friendly Marketing
|
Many marketers consider consumers a fickle and unpredictable lot, known to
change their purchasing decisions as quickly as winds shift, without being
able to say why. In part, suggest two researchers, that’s because subtle
cues in the environment influence consumers without their knowledge.
How Environmental Cues Influence Product Evaluation and Choice, a January
2007 working paper forthcoming in the Journal of Marketing Research,
explains how consumers’ behavior is affected by their everyday environment —
cues such as writing with a pen of a certain color, or the link between pets
and brands with animal associations. Jonah Berger, assistant professor of
marketing at Wharton Business School, and Gráinne Fitzsimons, assistant
professor of psychology at the University of Waterloo, conducted a series of
field studies and experiments...

Media Handling
Handling Controversial Media Questions
|
It's really difficult to appreciate the First Amendment in
the middle of a controversy, but the media has an important role to play. If
you treat the media like "the enemy" your chances of surviving a controversy
successfully are diminished.
Give up the notion of trying to control the media. You can only control your
response to the media and how you communicate your message. You can manage a
situation to a certain extent by being prepared and being responsive.
Establish a consistent point of contact where reporters can get your
information and press updates. Have a designated person who can respond to
press inquiries and logistical questions. It doesn't have to be the public
spokesperson, but someone who clearly knows what's going on. Provide
handouts giving reporters background information...

Change Management
Time to Change With Change Management
|
|
|
|
What is a Change?
Ask Oxford says change means make or become
different; move from one to (another). It is clear that when one leaves one
position, situation or any characteristic for another, a change occurs.
Changes can be (a) from black formals to khakis for an individual or (b)
summer to winter for weather or (c) restricted/controlled markets to free
markets for an economy.
Any change essentially involves two aspects -
one current and second future. So for any change to e made one should
thoroughly analyze the two to achieve desired outcome.
Any change to be brought in an organization can
be measured in terms of following four dimensions:
1. Scale - This means whether a change affects a

Global Non-Verbal Signals - Lebanon &
Mali
|
Lebanon
-
A handshake is the common greeting, along with a nod of the head.
Men may tip their hat when greeting a woman.
-
Personal space is smaller than in the West, thus people of the same
gender tend to stand much closer together.
-
To signal "YES", nod your head. To signal "NO", point your head
sharply upward and raise your eyebrows.
-
If you raise a closed fist in the air, then this is considered a
rude gesture.
-
If you lick your little finger and then brush it across your
eyebrow, you are signaling that someone is a homosexual.
Mali
-
Men and women only shake hands if a woman offers her hand first.
-
Watch your host for clues and directions, however it is customary
to remove your shoes before entering a room.
