~ ~ Why Do You Stay In Prison When the Door Is So Wide Open? ~ ~

by Ahmed Baki

From "Hidden Rosarium" at www.ahmedbaki.com

Let not the appearance of aquarium fish fool you into thinking that their continually moving, hitting the glass walls that surround their tanks, is due to their yearning for the outside world.

Scientific research has shown that the memory span of such fish is less than a few seconds. Imagine how the impression of imprisonment is lost within almost every following second at such a level of perception!

Then, consider what difference it makes for a brain to live within a limited "tank," or to live within an endless "ocean," so long as it is restricted by its momentary sensual perception.

Likewise, it does not make any difference whether a brain spends its entire lifetime within a limited "physical body" or within "eternity," as long as it is restricted by the perception of the five senses.

A brain that is designed to limit itself to the five senses and to live its entire life, content with the limitations of the five senses, cannot move past the appearances; it cannot turn toward the infinity of "Universal Consciousness" within its own essence. Hence, it cannot turn toward understanding and reflecting on the Truth referred to as Allah.

Also, remember that it is always best for aquarium fish to stay in their tanks, for they have been created to live in water; breaking their shell would destroy them entirely within a few minutes.
