Stress Management

1. Get up fifteen minutes earlier in the
morning. The inevitable morning mishaps will be less stressful.
2. Prepare for the morning the evening before. Set the breakfast
table, make lunches, put out the clothes you plan to wear, etc.
3. Don’t rely on your memory. Write down appointment times, when to
pick up the laundry, when library books are due, etc. ("The palest
ink is better than the most retentive memory."-Old Chinese Proverb)

Dear Friends
The summer is in full swing , and our
thoughts turn to vacation. Some of
us are the ones who cherish their vacation time and spend considerable
time planning it. Others of us have difficulty with vacations, We are
the workaholics of the organization. Our jobs tend to dominate our
lives, and as a consequence we find it hard to take time off and enjoy
some well deserved vacation.
While we greatly appreciate your dedication to your job, it is important
for you to remember that there is life outside the City. If the truth be
known, employers do not give vacation time simply to be nice. Vacations
actually are a productivity enhancer. Vacations refresh the body,
rejuvenate the mind, and restore the soul. A change of pace is essential
to help you relax and balance the multiple demands in your life.
Vacations let you recharge your batteries so you can put your best
energies into your job as an employee.
A vacation with a cell phone and a lap top computer is not a real
vacation. For a vacation to have its full restorative effect, it’s best
not to check in with the office at all. There are two reasons for this.
You need an uninterrupted break, and everyone in your work area needs an
uninterrupted break from you.
Have a mission for the vacation. What
do you want to achieve – maximize the benefits by having a purpose in
mind. A few suggestions are:
ü
Quality Family Time.
Perhaps it can be the fulfillment of all the promises made to the family
members about spending quality time with them. Here’s your chance.
ü
Spiritual Quest. It can be the time to catch up on
some inner spirituality. Time to go looking for your soul that got lost
in the day to day crisis management. Heal yourself – Make peace with
yourself.
ü
Develop Writing Skills. Vacations can be utilized
to develop your writing skills; pen down your feelings, emotions and
experiences. Keep a vacation journal – a personal travelogue.
ü
Self Discipline Program. Go for hikes, strenuous
walks, kayaking; push your body, redefine your bodily limits. Lose that
flab or paunch acquired by sitting at your desks. Do something different
– go vegetarian. Detoxify. Just learn to breathe.
ü
Rekindle your Relationship. Bring the spark back in
your relationship, woo your spouse or partner. Bring romance back in
your life. Now is the time to make up for the late hours at the office.
ü
Merge with Nature.
Be a part of nature. Enjoy all the four elements of nature to the
fullest – Fire (sun), Water (sea or rivers/ streams) Earth (sand) Wind
(sea breeze or mountain wind)
Wishing all our friends a relaxing time off, from the usual routines of
life – a repose to re-think the priorities in life and a chance to merge
with nature.
As always look forward to your
suggestions / feedback
which helps the Intek team to continually improve this Ezine.

The moment you commit and quit holding back, all sorts of unforeseen
incidents, meetings and material assistance will rise up to help

Selling with Empathy
|
Want
to sell something? Look at it from a buyer point of view! This week,
I got an example of a door to door salesman who lacked this skill
completely.
Suppose you have to someone the sell aerial photographs you took
from his house, how would you do it? What the guy tried was giving
me a compliment for my nice garden and the good work done by the
garden architect. My first reaction was: "Hey, I want compliments
for MY work and besides, the grass field looks awful on that
picture."
First lesson of selling with empathy make sure you get a grasp of

Self Development Part I
It All Begins With Awareness
|
|
Awareness is the first step in the creation process. As you grow
in self awareness, you will better understand why you feel what
you feel and why you behave as you behave. That understanding
then gives you the opportunity and freedom to change those
things you’d like to change about yourself and create the life
you want. Without fully knowing who you are, self acceptance and
change become impossible. |
“Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is
Enlightenment.”
- Tao Tzu |
Having clarity about who you are and what you want (and why you want
it), empowers you to consciously and actively make those wants a
reality. Otherwise, you’ll continue to get “caught up” in your own
internal dramas and unknown beliefs, allowing unknown thought processes
to determine your feelings and actions.
If you think about it, not understanding why you do what you do, and
feel what you feel is like going through your life with a stranger's
mind. How do you make wise decisions and choices if you don't understand
why you want what you want? It's a ....

Elevator Protocol
|
It was a humid summer day in Boston. I and about a dozen other perky
chaps were awaiting the arrival of a particularly lumbering elevator.
When the lift finally came, I donned my gentlemany cape and held the
door open for the others. After the last person entered, I crossed the
threshold, pleased to see politeness hadn't cost me a spot.
I only got halfway in before the elevator doors slammed shut, however.
Fellow passengers stared as I awkwardly fought the doors ajar, stumbled
in and wiped a humiliated trickle of sweat off my forehead.
Silence. Then one woman leaned over to another, uttering the words I
will always remember: "Serves him right for being a male chauvinist,"
she said. (First hand experience of a friend!!!)
It got me thinking how we totally disregard the proper manners, and our
selfishness overwhelms us into being total brutes. : ....

Ten Problem Solving Techniques
|
Do you ever need to find some
good ideas, or come up with a solution for a persistent problem? Learn
some simple problem solving techniques, and start applying them. Choose
a few of the methods below, and get in the habit of using them in your
personal life and your business.
Problem Solving Techniques
1. Clarify what a successful solution is, and that will guide your
efforts. In fact, sometimes just clarifying the desired outcome will
suggest immediate solutions.
2. Get opinions and/or advice from several people. They might have good
ideas, and you'll be sure you're not overlooking the obvious. Also, you
clarify a problem when you explain it, and that may help in itself.
3. ...
