Dear Friends
I would like to thank all our readers who sent appreciative
messages/correspondence in response to my Radio show on Time management.
Your encouragement means a lot to me. The thing that would make me most
happy will be your progress. Even if one person amongst you all makes
significant changes in their life helping them go one rung up the
ladder, my purpose in life has been achieved.
Life is not about saving millions but making a difference in one
person’s life. We all cannot be Nelson Mandelas or Mother Tereasa but we
can all be ourselves, aiming towards saving at least one soul and then
another and another in a chain of love.

Who should be that first person in my list – the person who hates me or
the person I most hate. If you want to see the strength of your
character, give it a try.
In my younger days I used to think that giving alms to the homeless was
enough to console my soul that I did something good. If I had given that
homeless my time asking about her family and how she came to be in this
predicament I would have made a difference… but alas! I have no time. I
have my own deadlines, my crisis management, my commitments; But what
about my commitments to my own spirituality?
Reach out to people, talk to them, help them. If you want to be loved -
love others, if you want to be happy - make others happy, if you are
scared - give courage to others, if you want financial success, give
financial help to others, if you want a stress free life – help others
in their times of anxiety.
It is the secret law of the universe, whatever you desire, you have to
let go of it yourself so that it make the trip all around the universe
coming back to you ten thousand fold. You have to give before you get!!
As quoted by Peyton Conway March “There is a wonderful mythical law of
nature that the three things we crave most in life -- happiness,
freedom, and peace of mind -- are always attained by giving them to
someone else”
The death of a friend's 20 year old son jolted me into realizing how
transitory our life is - the only thing that outlives us is our deeds.
Wishing all our friends the wisdom to help others so that they may help
themselves.
Look forward to your
comments / suggestions….
to help us improve ourselves

Your Wow Project
|
Are you working on something you really feel worth
doing? Think about the following:
"Projects … are all about emotion. So, when it comes to recognizing a
project that matters to you, trust your emotions. Listen to your stomach
and to your heart. They'll tell you"

Training EI to Project Managers
|
According to Guido Peetermans, European Training Manager for i2
Technologies, Project Management is one of the main problems in computer
projects. Working as a project manager before joining i2 Technologies, he
knows all about it. "Not only is it next to impossible to recruit good
project managers, it is also next to impossible to train them. I have been
looking for decent training, and all I can find are some "technical
trainings" in proposal writing, and technical project management skills.
However, such training is not enough."
Sure, sounds familiar. I heard a similar remark from the Quality Manager for
Unisys Belgium. "After studying the market in Belgium for good training for
Project Managers, ....

Understanding Repetitive Patterns in Relationships
|
“The psychological rule
says that when an inner situation is not made conscious, it happens
outside as fate. That is to say, when the individual remains undivided
and does not become conscious of his inner opposite, the world must
perforce act out the conflict and be torn into opposing halves.” Dr.
Carl Jung
What is it that constitutes a good relationship? Is it getting along
harmoniously, being loving, truthful, honest, supportive? These are
certainly virtues and ideals that we all strive for. And yet despite our
most valient efforts, we continually come across problems and situations
that puzzle us about our relationships.
A very interesting thing about life is that it all starts repeating at a
certain point and those of us who are willing to live a reflective life,
have to ask ourselves some very important questions. ...

Hidden Sources of Power at Work
|
Many of us hold archaic
assumptions about power … and there are precious few new archetypes or
role models. To me, the greatest power comes from collaboration … from
skillfully going inside our differences and working cooperatively toward
building something better than we had at the start. The key here will be
to use those forms of power that balance your approach: to
simultaneously create sustainable work relationships and the desired
results, with the least amount of effort.
Traditional forms of power are highly inefficient and often not very
effective in the long run. For example, did any bombing of Iraq
accomplish America’s real objective? I think not – a classic case of not
much "bang" for lots of "buck." Do we need different leadership, or do
we need leadership leading differently?
Stop and think for a moment: what’s truly powerful to you? Remaining
calm in the heat of the moment? Dealing well with complex problems?
Being direct and honest? How do you express your power and potential in
the workplace? ...

Negotiations:
Six Ways to Build Trust in Negotiations
|
All negotiations involve
risk. That’s why establishing trust at the bargaining table is crucial.
Professor Deepak Malhotra presents strategies to build trustworthiness.
From Negotiation.
What began as a misunderstanding about specifications and deadlines
between a manager at RLX, a software development firm, and a manager at
Impress, one of its clients, had escalated into a conflict charged with
growing mistrust. Both RLX and Impress had money to lose if the
partnership ended, but in the heat of conflict this became a secondary
concern. Just two weeks after the first flare-up, Impress announced that
it would be taking its business elsewhere. ...
