Dear Friends
There is nothing more exciting in a trainer’s life than to attend a self
development seminar. The day a trainer says that there is nothing new to
learn in life, is the day he retires.
Every day is a rare and unprecedented opportunity to learn and to have
fun. Any self development programs provide us with the opportunity to
sit back & critique ourselves on a positive note. I got my opportunity a
few weeks back, it was a pleasant change to sit on the other side of the
table; the joy of being a student again. What anticipation, what
eagerness to receive the positive vibes and be receptive to the pearls
of wisdom being cast by non other than Deepak Chopra. He advised 15
commitments to ensure harmony in life. I would like to share these with
you.
-
I will explore my inner hidden dimensions
-
I will see the world in me rather than vice versa
-
I will practice the way of yoga
-
I will not seek fulfillment outside myself
-
I will understand the nature of suffering & help others who are
suffering
-
I will find my freedom in myself
-
I will monitor my spirituality by seeing life as a mirror
-
I will not see evil as my enemy
-
I will explore my multidimensional nature
-
I will understand that death makes life possible
-
I will allow the universe to think through me
-
I will realize that the only time is NOW
-
I will be truly free when I realise that I am not a person (but a
spiritual being- intransient)
-
I will notice coincidences and ask what they mean
-
I will never stop asking questions
These commitments have a different meaning for each of us. Let’s start
to explore into another dimension of our life by using these commitments
as stepping stones until we find our own truths.
Wishing all our readers the wisdom to delve deep into their souls and
discover the true meaning of their existence. As always we welcome your
comments / suggestions….
to help us improve ourselves

Idea of the month:
Associating
Ideas
|
In The Society of Mind, Marvin Minsky writes:
"An idea with a single sense can lead you along only one track.
Then, if anything goes wrong, it just gets stuck- a thought that
sits in your mind with nowhere to go."
Connect any idea you have to other things you know, see to what this
inspires you. Not only will this give you different ways to go (so
if the first solution doesn't work, you can solve the problem
another way), but it may lead to other ideas, even richer than the
first you can up with.

Case
of the month:
Improving your perception about vision
|
Most people with university degrees wear glasses. It seems to be a fact of
live. The more you use your eyes, the worse they get. Now, is this really
so? Some compelling evidence that the truth may offer other options promoted
this subject to "case of the month".
Factors decreasing "good sight"
The theory above that your eyes get worse as you grow older dates from more
than 200 years ago. The "official line" is that you can't do anything about
it, except wear glasses, lenses or laser treatment. At the turn of the
century William H. Bates, a Medical Doctor, began to question this "official
line". Finding out ...

Manager and Coaching
Can
a Manager coach?
|
In an effort to attract and retain
talent, companies are employing new approaches to managing their employees. More
and more we see a shift towards offering employees the opportunity to achieve
professional growth through self-awareness, clear and detailed career plans and
a coaching management style approach.
Sean McPheat , CEO of the Executive Coaching Studio describes the Coaching
Management Style as: “Directed towards professional growth of employees. Manager
focuses on helping employees identify their strengths and weaknesses,
improvement areas and set development plans that foster career goals. (The)
manager creates an environment that supports honest self-assessment and treats
mistakes as learning opportunities in the development process.”
When acting as a coach, the manager has to remember that ...

Career Development:
Overcoming Career Malaise, When You're Stuck in a
Rut
|
A 33-year-old management consultant with a prestigious international
firm had become increasingly agitated over the course of a year. He was
tired of spending half his life on an airplane. His wife was complaining
that she never saw him. He felt constant guilt about not spending time
with his four-year-old son. He kept telling himself and his wife that
things were going to change. This would be the last project that would
require so much travel.
One night, flying home from yet another business trip, he had an
epiphany. He saw that there would always be another project that
required cross-country travel. If he wanted to save his marriage, he
could not go on living the way he was.
He came up with a wish list. He wanted a work situation [or a job] that
would allow him to own his own time, require little travel and be less
stressful. Within a few months, he was offered ...

Team Building:
Stop Meaningless Team Building
|
Regrettably, the words Team and Team Building have become the most
misused and meaningless term in business today. It is not hard to test
this: just look at the expression on people's faces when you use either
of these terms. They will range from skepticism to outright contempt.
The reasons for this negative response are not difficult to grasp. Your
employees very likely know that the term(s) is a thinly veiled,
quasi-motivational tool to make them work harder to accomplish some goal
that has no relevance to their daily job tasks.
Or perhaps your employees are just part of a dysfunctional or toxic work
environment, where morale is low, trust is dismal, and ...
