Dear Friends
This
month’s Ezine is dedicated to my favourite author Paulo Coelho whom I
met a week ago. Surrounded by thronging humanity wanting
his attention, he remained absolutely calm and serene. His aura
reflected a warm glow of peace and tranquility and yet a childlike
excitement and energy.
Having read all of his books I asked him which was his favourite one and
with a chuckle he said
"Books are like children, you cant have favourites, you love them all”
and he pointed out to my two older kids Hamza & Amal. Taking the matter forward I asked him what one advice or
core value he would want his children to live by? And without hesitation
he said two words, “Take Risks”
When I asked him how would I find my Master / Guide who would lead me
towards attaining my spirituality? He became serious and looked deep
into my eyes and said “Try to find him in ordinary people, don’t look
for him in powerful or outwardly wise people. He will be a very simple
person, perhaps you have already bumped into him without knowing it.”
My final question to him was, what was his message for all my readers
for the year 2006? His smile
came back again and he said “Tell them to pursue their dream and
everything else will fall in place; all the events that happen in that
pursuit will shape their destiny”
I thanked him for his time and words of wisdom and left, but the feeling
of exaltation stayed with me for days; as if someone had injected into
me a new surge of motivation.
I wish all my friends the insight to rethink their lives and not to give
up the pursuit of their dream.
As always look forward to your
suggestions / feedback
which helps the Intek team to continually improve this Ezine.

Idea of the month:
Leisure time
|
"Make a list of your friends to determine who is the most positive
thinker among them end deliberately cultivate their society. Do not
abandon your negative friends, but get closer to those with a
positive point of view for a while, until you have absorbed their
spirit, then you can go back among your negative friends and give
them your newly acquired thought pattern without taking on their
negativism."

Selling with Empathy
|
Want
to sell something? Look at it from a buyer point of view! This week,
I got an example of a door to door salesman who lacked this skill
completely.
Suppose you have to someone the sell aerial photographs you took
from his house, how would you do it? What the guy tried was giving
me a compliment for my nice garden and the good work done by the
garden architect. My first reaction was: "Hey, I want compliments
for MY work and besides, the grass field looks awful on that
picture."
First lesson of selling with empathy make sure you get a grasp of

Business Strategy and Expansion
Corporate Boards
|
Not long ago, I spent a day with
an old friend, while passing by Dubai. During the coarse of the day
while we visited a few organizations in connection with his business
expansion plans, he shared his frustrations as a CEO.
My friend built his business from scratch several years ago. Now after
having established his organization, he finally delegated his day to day
routines and started doing his actual job – business strategy and
expansion. He spent several months evaluating new avenues and finally
came up with a viable expansion plan.
He admitted that the most frustrating aspect of his business expansion
was to obtain approval of the board for the new project. Operating in a
“High Context” culture where strong personalities voice their opinions
less for technical and more for popularity reasons poses unwanted
hurdles for a progressive business – just as we ....

Developing your Verbal Logo
|
The next 30 seconds may determine whether you get your funding, make the
sale or establish your point-of-view!
In this faced-paced, mile-a-minute world, you often have only a few
seconds to get your message across. Most modern television and radio
commercials are no more than 30 seconds. Where could you use an
effective 30 second commercial message about your business? These
mini-messages are ideal for investor meetings, networking meetings,
trade shows, interviews, sales calls or any situation where you need to
quickly promote your business.
How do you develop these messages effectively? Think in terms of "sound
bites". Prepare your brief message just like a speech, with an opener,
the content and the closing. Let's examine each of these in more detail ...

Self Development
Handling Insecurity
|
What
is insecurity?
Insecurity is:
-
Feeling of not being "good enough" to
meet the challenge of a situation you face in life.
-
Sense of helplessness in the face of
problems, conflict, or concerns.
-
Belief that one is inadequate or
incompetent to handle life's challenges.
-
Fear of being discovered as inadequate,
ill fitted, or unsuited to meet responsibilities at home, school, or
on the job.
-
Sense of not fitting in, being ``out of
synch'' with those in your peer group.
-
Perception that life is unpredictable
with most of the expectations you have to meet not clearly
understood.
-
Sense of always climbing up a mountain,
never being able to reach the top.
