Dear Friends
We humans are a complex structure and despite centuries of speculations,
hypothesis and researches we have been unable to unfold the mysteries
enfolding the human entity.
The multifaceted humans still have an inner child living in them - with all
its experiences and feelings. Carl Jung called it the "Divine Child" and Emmet Fox called it the "Wonder Child." Some psychotherapists call it the
“True Self” and Charles Whitfield called it the “Child Within” .We in todays’
world are constantly stifling this inner child.
The Inner Child is the emotional self. It is where our feelings live. When
we experience joy, sadness, anger, fear, or affection our Child Within is
coming out. When we are being playful, spontaneous, creative, intuitive and
surrendering to the spiritual self, our Genuine Authentic Self, who we know
deep within us, our Real Self is being welcomed and encouraged to be
present.
We have often commented on a person’s behaviour as childish or juvenile,
reinforcing to ourselves, the negative connotations attached to it. What is
there in being child-like that scares us in today’s commercial world. Is it
the fear of being vulnerable to the world that apprehends us? If we let the
inner child in us emerge we will be flaunting the following characteristics:
-
Risk
taking – the child in us in not afraid to take risks and that propels us
towards moving forward
-
Living in the moment – we as adults are anxious about the future and
being dragged down by our pasts, that we forget to enjoy the present
-
Intuitive Decisions – As kids all our decisions and judgements were based
on Intuition
-
Forgive and Forget – Our interpersonal relationships are over-shadowed by
our grudges and resentments. The child in us forgets a conflict a few
minutes later.
-
Unafraid of Uncertainty – Children can exist in ambiguity without qualms
of what may happen
-
Transparency of Emotions – the children have no hidden agendas, they
display their emotions with honesty. It is the conniving adult in us
that camouflages our true feelings
-
Unrelenting Wonder and amazement – Every day is a new day with children,
they are amazed at all the miracles of God around them, from sunsets to
a roadside flower
-
Unconditional Love for all
Will all these characteristics be a hindrance to our progress in life if we
let
them surface? Infact it would help us develop into more secure human
beings both personally and professionally. We will be able to create
happiness, success and well being as individuals, families and society only
when we have aligned ourselves with our inner vision of our true self.
Wishing all our friends the fortitude to converge with their inner child to
achieve harmony in their lives.
Look forward to your
comments/ suggestions…. to help us improve ourselves

Idea
of the Month: The right to
Happiness |
The Dalai Lama says
"I believe the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness" and "I
believe happiness can be achieved through training the mind,
including intellect and feeling, heart and mind." Howard Cutler,
another author this idea comes from, indicates how strange it is to
western thinking that we can develop and sustain our happiness.
According to the Dalai Lama: "If there are certain types of events
that you do not desire, then the best method of ensuring that that
event does not take place is to make sure that the causal conditions
that normally give rise to that event do no longer arise."
So, what events cause bad emotions for you, and what can you stop
from this to happen?
Start the day by saying "I will utilize this day in a more positive
way. I will not waste this very day."
And in the evening, check what you've done and ask yourself: "Did I
utilize this day as I planned?"

Case of the Month:Telling
vs. Asking |
When discussing about coaching with HR managers, I after get the comment:
"Yeah, we've been doing coaching for some time now, but it seems that some
people never get the message. The more you tell them what to do, the less
results you see."
The more coaching training I've been giving the more convinced I got that
"telling someone what to do" often isn't the solution. Especially that in
fact the person already knows what there is to do, but doesn't do it.
So what is my approach? A first important element is that I start from the
belief that the person being coached already has the resources needed. The
key is to get the person to use these resources. Given this presupposition,
start by using a lot of questions to get the pattern behind what the person
is doing. Once I have the pattern, I give feedback to the person about the
pattern. An example: ...

Cross Cultural Communication:
Basic Tips
(article) |
Here are some simple tips to help you improve your cross cultural
communication skills:
Slow Down
Even when English is the common language in a cross cultural situation,
this does not mean you should speak at normal speed. Slow down, speak
clearly and ensure your pronunciation is intelligible.
Separate Questions
Try not to ask double questions such as, "Do you want to carry on or
shall we stop here?" In a cross cultural situation only the first or second
question may have been comprehended. Let your listener answer one question
at a time.

Playing With Your Mind:
Is Neuromarketing Research Giving Advertisers the Keys to Your
Decision-Making?
(article) |
If
you feel like advertisers get into your head now, you ain't seen nothing
yet.
That's the fear expressed by some critics of research in an area known as
neuromarketing, which one executive at the company funding the research said
gives "unprecedented insight into the consumer mind," and will allow
advertisers to get customers "to behave the way they want them to behave."
But according to the lead scientist doing the research, the work will make
life better for consumers by letting businesses gain a better understanding
of how people decide what products and companies they prefer.
"The goal was always not to change the behavior of the consumer, but to
change the behavior of ...

Lateral
Thinking (article) |
In the face of fast-changing trends, fierce competition and the need
to work miracles despite tight budgets, better quality and service
are not enough. Creativity and innovation are the only engines that
will drive lasting success. Lateral Thinking is essential. Instead
of linear or vertical thinking, which relies solely on logic,
Lateral Thinking is a deliberate, systematic process of using your
ability to think in a different way. These proven methods make
insight, creativity, and innovation happen. We know creative
thinking is a skill that can be learned and we will show you how
with these methods.
Lateral thinking is a step-by-step method of creative thinking with
prescribed techniques that can be used consciously. According to de
Bono, intelligence is a potential and thinking is a skill to use
that potential. He adds that thinking is no substitute for
information but ...

Breaking
the Glass Ceiling:
What's Holding Her Back? (article) |
Women executives are everywhere in the corporate world, and they may
actually be more effective managers than men. In fact, women managers
consistently are rated higher than their male counterparts on 37 of 47
critical management qualities such as leadership, social skills,
problem-solving and decision-making, according to a study
Ironically, though, some of the traits that make women successful middle
managers may hinder their ability to reach the top. That's because women
concentrate too much on details, speak elliptically and shy from
risk-taking, according to the study. The research involved 396 women and
1,600 men and included 360-degree feedback from supervisors and subordinates
as well as self-assessment data.
"Women need to be direct and be able to give the big picture," Fortunately,
ambitious women executives don't have to
