Dear
Friends
Wishing all our readers the blessings of Ramadan, Happy
Diwali and Happy Thanksgiving.
From the the moment of our birth till the time we die, all
interaction with other human beings is based on communication.
George Bernard Shaw so eloquently said, "language was developed by
humans to reveal their feelings and yet it is also a powerful tool
to conceal our feelings.
How we communicate to others has direct repercussions on our success
in life, both personally and professionally. If we we reflect back
on our life and evaluate 90% of our failures in life were a result
of either bad communication, miscommunication or even perhaps a
total lack of communication. Yet we give so little preference
towards consciously improving this personal attribute.
Yet we give so little preference towards consciously improving this
personal attribute as it was given to us naturally with the first
cry of birth, we take it for granted. Friends we should not
underestimate the power and energy each word holds, irrespective of
which language it is spoken in.
Wishing all our friends the ability to succeed in all walks of life,
just by developing the power of communication, from there onwards,
the sky is the limit.
Look forward to your communication/
feedback.

EMOTIONAL
INTELLIGENCE (article) |
You can help how you feel:
For generations, it's been called &
"women's intuition"; -- the ability to sense what's really going on in a situation, to assess people's thoughts and feelings accurately, to express empathy, to respond appropriately -- often in the absence of hard data. Now,
thanks to psychologist and best-selling author Daniel Goleman
(Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ, Bantam
Books, 1995), this talent (never exclusively female) has
a new name -- emotional intelligence -- and a scientific explanation.
Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the silent partner of rational intelligence -- equal in importance, yet frequently overlooked and rarely schooled
or tested.

EFFECTIVE
NEGOTIATION SKILLS (article) |
In the real world, however, capital planning, corporate borrowing,
annual budgeting, and priority setting all tend to require that
people from different organizations - or even our own people with a
different point of view - find satisfactory means to reach
agreement. For many decision-makers, annual obligations like business plan reviews and budget
approvals tend to coincide with increased levels of stress and
anxiety. We are well-prepared for the substance to be decided; it's
the process that is so unsettling. It can be troublesome if the
short-term objective of minimizing conflict gets in the way of
developing and achieving long-range goals.
Interest-based negotiation techniques can help us focus our energy on the process and guide that process towards yielding
a satisfactory result.
