Oman LNG "Mind Openers for Managers". This workshop was designed for the middle & senior management of OLNG at their state of the art plant at Sur in Oman.  An interesting mix of Dutch, Oman, British, Swiss & German nationals created the workshop into a brainstorm session to envision OLNG in the next five years.

Develop Your Creativity

If we are all naturally creative, why do only a few people fully exercise their creativity? Primarily, we may underdeveloped or misplace personal habits for being creative, often from fear of “bucking the system” or our culture and social norms. Creativity is an expression of who we are, not what we do or have. The true force of creativity is first to “be” (for example, seeing yourself as a doctor), then to “do” (going to medical school, conducting examinations), and to “have” (a diploma and a practice).

The ability to leads highly valued, widely proclaimed, but frequently absent in today’s workplace. Many managers perceive themselves to be great leaders and motivators, but their perception is usually based on a self-proclaimed ability to threaten or cajole people into doing a better job. Leadership is also seen as taking charge during crises, when in fact, leadership is constant, not just driven by events of the moment.

The actual differences between manage mental. Management is generally defined as guiding people through their current responsibilities. Leadership is the ability to guide people into the challenges of tomorrow. One can be appointed a manager, but not a leader.

Gender Workplace Communication

When something happens at work which is dismissive of you or excludes you, you must either speak up or exit the situation, if you truly want to redirect the flow of events and launch some real communication. You don't have to be shrill or abrasive to speak up; you can simply be firm and clear. You don't have to physically exit either your job or the building; you can distance yourself to an extent it becomes clear you have exited the situation and its dynamics.

A large communication gap exists between men and women in the workplace and the higher a woman rises in an organization, the greater the gap becomes. There is no question that all of us--- men, women and the companies which employ us, and depend on us for teamwork--- would be better off if we developed strategies and techniques to close the gap.
